Grant Hartanov,
Strength and Conditioning Coach Varsity Defensive
Assistant
Grant joined the Whitman Coaching staff in 2011
and oversees the programs strength and conditioning program as well as
supporting the Varsity Defensive Staff.
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Grant played at Fremd
High School where he captained Fremd's first of eight consecutive
conference championships as well as playing on three playoff teams in
its current string of 16 consecutive playoff appearances.
After Fremd, Grant played Free Safety
for the Big Red of Denison University
from 2004-2006.
After a career ending injury, he
served as a Defensive Assistant.
Additionally, Grant served as an
assistant under Coach Mark Watts in
Denison Strength and Conditioning
Program and has worked with several
additional S&C staffs such as The Ohio
State University and Western Kentucky.
He has competed in several
Olympic Weightlifting and Strongman
competitions.
Hartanov graduated with honors from
Denison and holds a Masters Degree with
honors from The Johns Hopkins
University.
During the day, he works as an
analyst for the Department of Defense.
He resides in Glover Park in
Washington, DC
