Coach Jerel Chavis, Varsity Assistant Coach ​

Coach Chavis, a 2005 graduate of Magruder High School, will focus on the Varsity program full time this year following two highly successful seasons as the JV Head Coach (with back-to-back 7-1 campaigns). After graduating from Magruder, where he played both football and basketball, Coach Chavis went to Bowie State University to play football, before transferring to Lancaster Bible College, where he completed his degree while playing basketball and baseball at the D3 level. Coach Chavis holds a degree in Coaching and Sports Management and is currently working as a paraeducator at Whitman. He hopes to further his education by pursuing a Masters Degree and gaining his certification as a Math or Tech Ed teacher.
